The Darkness – Los Angeles 2003
I was a huge supporter of the Darkness in the US. We did a lot of promotion around them at Virgin and this was from a signing session at the Sunset store. I remember running into Dan Hawkins in a fire exit. He was looking around a bit nervously and asked me quietly if there was somewhere private he could go to. I thought, oh oh, he’s wanting to do some class A’s in a store (this was 2003 and not 1973). Luckily it turned out that all he wanted was a quick cigarette. Now the same thing happened to me in London with Oasis, and in that case it was certainly not about tobacco!
