Aerosmith and The Scorpions – Phoenix 1985
This was the first time I saw and met Aerosmith. I was living in Phoenix and The Scorpions announced they’d be playing Compton Terrace with Aerosmith, Autograph and Victory in support. I managed to bluff myself backstage claiming to be from the Melody Maker and the first thing I saw was Joe Perry being helped to his trailor by two girls. I got to briefly meet the whole band, who were on hard times and just about to release the less than fabulous Done With Mirrors. That said, I was ecstatic and let the music do the talking.
I found this article by accident I guess, I’m glad I did. That concert was out of control, if you remember 2 people were killed in a knife fight. I remember some dude was crying outside the concert next to his dad’s station wagon, it was up in flames. It was crowded. I ran up front for aerosmith and my girlfriend went back with friends, it was got. I couldn’t believe I was in front with Tyler and Perry, yes it was there comeback tour, it seemed awkward for them. Then the scorpions came out and Wow, some girl grabbed my crotch. I looked and she just smiled and gave me a kiss and disappeared. It was great concert, helicopters out front before the concert live radio stations just a really big show. I do remember I didn’t last very long in the front cuz it was just too damn hot but what a great show. Hope you get this looks like it’s been a while so I just replied anyways take care man
