Aerosmith Crew Passes – Savannah GA.1988
I was an Aerosmith fanatic. The first 5 records still sound great to me. Anyway, they hadn’t been to the UK since ’77 so I went over to the US to see them a couple of times before they started touring Europe again in support of their later records. I hitched to a couple of shows and met some of the road crew in Savannah, GA. It turned out that one of the truck drivers was the brother of a guy I’d worked with at Virgin. He hooked me up with a pass for the show and afterwards asked me if I wanted to go with him to the next couple of gigs which were in the Carolinas. It was a fantastic trip. I was sleeping in the bed in the back of the cab as he drove through the mountains. When we got to the shows, I wasn’t allowed to carry anything for insurance reasons, but Steven Tyler’s assistant asked me to help to set up his dressing room. I vividly remember his rubber shark hair brush, which had to be left in the same place before every show.
