Bobby and the Midnites – Sheffield 1983
I went to this while I was at college in Sheffield. It was a million miles away from the music I liked at the time, but I was a drummer and they had Billy Cobham on the tubs. He was amazing, as was the bass player, Alphonso Johnson. Unfortunately the vocals were awful – Bob Weir of the Dead. Sorry to my Deadhead pals, but the toad who lives in our mailbox (true) can hold a better tune than Weir. Sometimes his friend comes and they harmonize Sugaree better than the Dead ever could. Ribitt.
