U2 – New York 2001
One of the most emotional evenings ever. I like U2 but I’m not a massive fan, but the way they rallied New York just a few weeks after it’s biggest tragedy was awesome. After the encore, they invited anyone from the emergency services, to whom they’d given lots of free tickets, to come onstage and say a few words. The band then quietly left the stage and many services members got up one at a time, and remembered their departed friends. It was difficult to stay composed. I didn’t.
