Concert For George, Paul McCartney’s Seat Sign – Los Angeles 2002
One of the simplest yet most prized items in my archive, I stole this from Macca’s chair just after he stood up on the way out of the premiere for the Concert for George. Just a few hours before, myself and my friend Glen were invited to a “screening” of the film at Warner Bros studios in Burbank. We showed up thinking it would just be the usual bunch of retailers and radio folks sitting in a small room watching the movie with a free beer in hand. When we got there, it was an amazing event. The theater had about 300 seats, and we were near the front. We watched Paul and Heather, Ringo and Barbara, Yoko and Sean and Olivia and Dani walk in and sit down about 6 rows behind us. Paul and Yoko hugged, which was quite a site. To our left sat Tom Petty with Jeff Lynne and most of the Heartbreakers. In the seat right in front of me sat Jackson Browne, who I kneed in the back of the head several times (not on purpose, although he hasn’t put out a decent record in far too long).
